Wahine Warriors Merchandising and Logo Design

Objective

At Kapa’a High School, the girl's sports teams have always been underappreciated, starting from the attendance all the way down to the small things like merchandise for fundraising for the team. This is surprising to me since the girls’ sports at Kapa’a High have dominated the last few years, outperforming the boys’ teams and winning multiple state championships. So, as an alumni, I decided to help out the girl’s team and coach who reached out to me. I revamped the merch to represent the mana of the Wahine team, with a strong female warrior and an outline of a basketball subtly resting in the back of the logo. I also included subtle homages to the Kapa’a High Logo and the University of Hawai’i typeface. The headdress comes from the logo and the triangles along the Wahine Warrior’s leg, as seen in the UH typeface.
