Lancer Madness Rebrand

Overview

Lancer Madness needs a rebrand to reflect the dynamic and diverse student body of California Baptist University while fostering a stronger sense of school spirit and unity. Before, it was known as Midnight Madness and was a highlight for all incoming and current CBU students. As the name changed to Lancer Madness in 2024 due to the time change from Midnight to earlier in the evening, The new branding lacked the cohesive visual and emotional appeal necessary to energize students, alumni, and fans, making it less effective in marketing to students around campus.

A refreshed identity will reposition the event as a standout experience and provide opportunities to better incorporate interactive elements that resonate with today’s students. Moreover, this is an opportunity to align the event’s branding more closely with CBU’s students, ensuring that it brings back that once very exciting and well known appeal.

Composition

The background was designed to evoke Lancer Madness's ambiance, emphasizing midnight energy themes and CBU’s Southern California setting. The palm trees and sand create a distinct connection to the university’s warm, inviting southern California location, while the San Bernardino mountains silhouette anchors the design, symbolizing the view as a student at CBU.

The full moon at the center is a powerful focal point, representing the excitement of a night dedicated to school spirit. The deep navy tones and starry sky establish a serene yet energetic nighttime atmosphere, aligning perfectly with the event’s theme.
