Behind the Logo

Ho’ike Kauai is a travel agency, Squire Media, created at California Baptist University. The logo on the left represents the heart and soul of the would-be company. The logo is divided into The Hokulea, the ocean, and the I’o bird. The Hokulea is a double-hulled canoe that has traveled worldwide multiple times using only stars, birds, and the weather for navigation. The ocean represents how people traveled to and from the Hawaiian Islands. And finally, the I’o bird is a guidance bird, most commonly seen around the coasts of Hawaii. These three aspects come together to describe the name of the company Ho’ike, which means to guide or to show.
